This is VERY, VERY good. I often try to explain the difference between pain and discomfort to students - particularly when it comes to stretching and the sensations related to pushing muscle tissue, facia, and joint ROM beyond its normal function. Mr. Myers seems to do this eloquently. In fact, I would add that there possibly is further distinction available. If pain is associated with a response to flee from the stimuli, we must be careful to distinguish between a pain-related-flight mechanism, and a muscles spinal/golgi apparatus stretch reflex. We do know that a muscle stretch reflex serves to protect the joint stability, however in calculated stretching scenarios: we want to reach beyond the ROM that the stretch reactions are normally comfortable with. Anyway, interesting stuff. I also dig his commentary to Personal Trainers at the end of the video. Couldnt agree more. #parkouristheanswer Chad McDonald
