This is a 1935 speech by retired US military General, Smedley Butler. Smedly Butler was a highly decorated officer who served in many wars and reached the highest rank a Marine could achieve at the time. His speech exposes the mechanics of the United States money making war machine(which also sheds light on all nations war for profit plans). I think he is interesting because he began his service as a blind patriot but allowed himself to grow as a human being and tell the truth about the evils he saw in the military, the government and the many capitalist growing rich from wars. He exposes the fact that a lot of the billionaires and millionaires we see today would be no where without the wars that financed them. Check out his speech from 1935.
