This is a Kyaagba Wandoo shared opinon post: EIGHT MONTH STRIKE BY PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN BENUE STATE SUSPENDED According to the NUT chairman, Godwin.M.Anya that, the decision was made after their Abuja office reached a special agreement with the Benue state government. That according to a memorandum; Benue State government is to pay the teachers their due (minimum wage) and the suspension of the strike should take effect on the 7th of this month. If after going on strike for about eight months you decide to suspend it based on a so-called special agreement, I really do not know what to say because, Governor Suswam mentioned that, ‘the state doesn’t have the required or requested money to pay the teachers’, So where he will get the money now that Abuja has asked him to pay our teachers? If he didnt listen to the federal government, will he listen to NUT? And am yet to know how the teachers themselves feel about this latest development. Lets hope for the best though, plus it is good that children will be going back to school. What do you think?
