This is a beautiful bird of prey called a Swallow-tailed Kite which I saw again today near Isle de Mai. Their numbers are dwindling for a host of reasons but we have had some sightings over Amelia Island in the past 2 weeks or so. Has anyone else seen or photographed any of these? The National Audubon Society tells us National Audubon Society tells us The last breeding stronghold of the Swallow-tailed Kite in the United States, FLORIDA, may determine its future in North America. It is listed as Threatened, Endangered, or Imperiled in Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas.
