This is a bit lengthy, yet 2015 has started off with hearing from a past student. This student just made my day. What a way to start 2015,!!!!! Identifiers have been removed. Education is one of my passions in life and this is why I do what I do. 22 minutes ago Hi Dr. R! I hope everything is going well for you....we sure miss you... I know that you left such an impression of inspiration to many of us!... Below, I have posted a copy of a paper I was assigned to write...a reflection of the last few chapters we read...that illustrated true stories of people and how they stayed positive after troubling times...My reflection concludes in response to someone who I believe entered my life just at the right time! ...Prior to reading this book, I never could have imagined that an illness or trauma could be something that would instigate new and helpful opportunities for a person... When I was halfway through my first semester...I began to wonder if I was capable of this. Going into the medical field, being a full-time student, working to make ends meet and still do well with my education and decisions— it seemed impossible...One day in class, it was Dr. Rodenbaugh who began lecturing off subject of A&P on how each of us has a reason for being here and that this door of opportunity was opened to us for a reason. She led on to tell us how you could be robbed of material things, but nobody could ever take away your education or knowledge. It was then that I realized I AM capable of doing this…My grades soared higher than I had ever expected and I pushed myself harder than I ever have. Dr. R. was that one person who I believed entered my life for a reason. She gave me so much determination to try and the drive to keep going...Even though Dr. R. has left our school and I never had the opportunity to thank her for entering my life, I now understand that I am in this for a reason and I will certainly be able to help others in my future from the things I am learning now! I didnt think I would ever get a chance to say thank you for all of your pep talks you gave in class...I had no idea I would ...carry a 4.0 GPA! I got that push from you; you really made a difference in my life and I couldnt thank you enough! Lately, I have been wishing that I had the opportunity to share my paper with you...but it was something I wrote after you were already gone. Dr. R wrote: you have brought me to tears on the first day of 2015 and then, I was actually speechless. (Im certain that is difficult for any of my students to believe - Dr. R has a moment without any words flowing!)... Love and blessings to you always, Dr. R Student wrote:...I have had SO MANY doubts and every time I want to give up, I keep hearing your voice in my head; and it keeps me going! Thank you so much for everything!
