This is a dark film. It deals a lot with drug addiction and one particularly abusive relationship. Fortunately sheltered from these themes in my life, I had a hard time relating. I could see it being very powerful if the subject matter was more familiar and it seemed to do well with critics. Also, I should have watched with the subtitles on because I had a very difficult time understanding the thickly accented dialogue at times. Ive been slowly working my way through films in which Luc Besson was involved. He produced this one and Gary Oldman wrote/directed it. Have you seen it? Id love to hear your thoughts.
