This is a good interview I read. Loudwire interviewing Mike Ness of Social Distortion. I got turned onto Social Distortion when they opened for Neil Young & Crazy Horse in the late 80s. Love them! LOUDWIRE - Speaking of influences, Social Distortion have recorded some great cover songs over the year — ‘Ring of Fire,’ ‘Under My Thumb’ and ‘Making Believe,’ to name a few. Is there a song out there that you haven’t covered yet that you’d love to record? MIKE NESS - Most people don’t realize that I’m a huge Tom Petty fan. He’s a great storyteller and an amazing songwriter and musician. Usually, how it works is that I love a song so much that I play it in my living room for five years and all of a sudden I take it to rehearsal and say, ‘We’re gonna cover this.’ I cant wait to hear what song they end up doing by Tom. Whichever one they do I know they will do it justice.
