This is a great article on the saint of the day, Teresa of Avila. Her life speaks to what we can do in our prayer life. Simply put, prayer is conversation with Christ. The context of her life is interesting. She was born after Columbus sailed, right before Martin Luther posted his theses, and during the Inquisition. What a time period with all the uncertainties associated with those events. I believe she may have had a small part in helping the Church discern itself and ask itself some very important questions of purpose.
