This is a great testimonial from Tammy Arroyo who saw Dr. Wolf: In October of 2013 I started to experience mild to moderate lower back pain. There was no obvious cause for this new pain. It felt like something was out of place so I started treatment at a chiropractor, and later at a pain management facility. By February 2014 the pain had gotten more severe. A MRI was ordered and I started on pain meds. Within the 10 days it took to get the MRI I lost ability to walk and sit. The results of the MRI showed a 9mm bulging, ruptured disk in my S1, L5 vertebrae. I received 3 weekly epidurals immediately. The epidurals decreased the pain, allowing me to walk again and start therapy. I went for acupuncture, daily spinal decompression, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, and light physical therapy for several months with hopes of getting better without surgery. After a few months I was back on the floor in pain. In June I received my 4th epidural. My last attempt at getting relief was trying an osteopath. After 3 visits it was clear it was not helping. I found Dr. Wolf through a friend and was seen the next day!! By then I had been in constant severe pain for 5 months and was on high doses of pain meds. I was VERY nervous since I have had family members with bad back surgery experiences. Dr. Wolf’s demeanor was immediately soothing to my nerves. He did an overall checkup and was in agreement that I had exhausted all other options, leaving surgery the only option for pain relief. He went over the procedure, safety, risks, and success rate of the microdiscectomy he was recommending. I had printed out a list of about 60 questions to ask your surgeon from the internet and shyly asked him if he wouldn’t mind answering them. He answered every question on the list thoroughly, patiently, and with a little humor. A couple weeks later I was getting surgery! His assistant and office staff were helpful in making the whole experience easier. After the surgery I got a call from Dr. Wolf to check up on me and his assistant also called frequently to check up on me. I found it comforting to know that he and his assistant were available to help me through any situation that arose after surgery. He has sat down in my follow-up appointments to hear my concerns and calm me when needed. That means a lot to me! Six weeks after surgery I started physical therapy. I was happy that the offices were connected, allowing ease of communication with Dr. Wolf and my therapist. I would also see Dr. Wolf occasionally while in therapy. Physical therapy was a huge part of my recovery…mentally, emotionally, and physically! I’m happy to report that I started back to work with limited duties and hours in September, 7 weeks after surgery! By November 2014 I was back to work full-time. I would recommend Dr. Wolf to anyone suffering back issues! Read more here: sportsandspineortho/testimonials.html
