This is a huge topic in schools, and it is real! One of my children was the victim of bullying 2 years ago, and I had no clue until I saw something one day. Bruises and scratches on the back and abdomen, bruised cheek, and my child kept it to them self. My child never said anything to me, but when I noticed a repeated pattern of these things going on I was enraged. It was happening at school during recess. A place where kids should feel safe and free. Needless to say the school really didnt do anything, and of course no one saw anything. Since then things have changed and Im proud to say our school has taken a stand against bullying. We as parents have a huge role in ours childrens lives. Talk to your children about it, let them know that its not ok....ever! Kids are often afraid to share that theyve seen or been the victim of it, and probably embarrassed. So its important for us as parents to have a trusting relationship with ours kids and show them that we want to know whats going on in their lives. Talk to your kids and be proactive in helping them understand what it is and help them feel like they can tell you if they feel like they have been bullied.
