This is a little long, but please read through... So a friend of mine did the ALS ice bucket challenge with another person and posted this statement with their video: We chose not to call anyone out, but suggest we all take a more charitable turn in life; not because of silly videos, but because we are all in this together and we all need a little help every now and again! In the video, they called it the Give a Damn challenge. Throughout the year 2014, I have already donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my friend Abby Havice and to St. Judes in memory of little Carter. I will also be making donations to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association, all of which do important research into the many diseases that have affected my close family members. I will be donating a great deal of time to Fremont Community Theatre, which is a place that has saved my life and others more than you might suspect. And last but certainly not least, I will be donating to the EHLERS DANLOS NATIONAL FOUNDATION, to help research be done regarding my own genetic condition, to make more testing and treatment options available, and so that more awareness can be raised about EDS, which can be fatal in certain forms. Although I would love to simply challenge all of you to donate to the EDNF, I instead challenge each and every one of you to donate something, whether it be money, time, or physical labor, to that cause or person that means something to you. Sorry theres no fun video or bucket of ice water to accompany this challenge!
