This is a long one…. But for those of you who are learning with me as a mom, as a servant of Christ and who have a burden and hope for our city…. Please read on. You might also want to if you love cookies. I have often used the parable of the talents to encourage and teach my children over the years. I recognize that God has given each of them special gifts, and as they celebrate their gifts, I have challenged them to use them for God’s glory and to not bury them in the sand. Recently, I counseled one of them that just because this gift/talent isn’t something they always enjoy, it doesn’t give them the right to be lazy about it. God teaches us different things as we obey. It isn’t always fun, but there is great joy in being obedient. It is wicked and lazy to take what the master has given us and to bury it because the gift isn’t fun. We all want to hear, “well done, my good and faithful servant.” It is always easier to do what I say…. Not what I do. (ouch) I am in a season in my life when I have been afforded more time. I am the parent of 4 teens who don’t need a lot from me as far as the day to day chores and such. I don’t work out of the home, I don’t play tennis, I don’t run marathons, I am doing less laundry, I don’t make cookies….. Oh! But wait. I do make cookies. I have a beautiful, remodeled cookie kitchen and I have been given a steady hand and artistic eye that helped me make designer cookies for years. Hmmmmm There is a beautiful house in Memphis on the corner of semmes and carnes in Orange mound that will very soon serve the needs of women in that community. 2Pc and the Neighborhood Christian Center are working to make it a beautiful and safe place and to help bring hope and the love of Jesus to a zip code in our city that is aching for that hope. It costs a lot of money to keep a house running and staffed. How can I help? How can you help? I can make you cookies again, for all occasions. I am NOT going to put a price on the cookies this go round. Please, If you need cookies, search your heart as to what you want to pay. I will donate all my proceeds to “the house”. Cookie-prep time has always been a time of prayer for me. It is impossible for me to make these artistic yummies without thinking about the people I am making them for. I am excited about the time that lies ahead where I will be praying for you and the women in Orange mound. Please pray with me and consider ordering for any occasion this year. Love to you all!
