This is a long one but rappers these days make me sick!!! I think Im gonna periodically put rappers on blast for lyrics that just aint quite there. They mean well but their metaphors often miss the mark. I mean we are talking about a bunch of street dudes, all dope boys and ex-cons if you let them tell it, that likely dropped out of kindergarten so no, everything wont make sense. I understand how that works since society is so dumbed down these days. And if they arent naturally intelligent like Weezy (hate him or love him, his IQ scored off the charts) or didnt have enough sense or money to hire intelligent ghost writers like Jay does (SPOILER ALERT: Jay says he doesnt write his lyrics and thats true because The Clipse, Jay Electronica, Jada Kiss and some white dude from Canada writes them for him and get paid royally for doing so. Kanye used to but hes been busy after practically writing the whole Blueprint.), they are pretty much left to their own devices. Long gone are the days of well thought out lyrics from artistic geniuses like Tupac and Biggie. Somebody has to do it.... The first installment if the Keeping Rap Honest series will be a snippet from Jeezys feature on Yo Gottis Act Right where he proclaims (and I quote) Thinkin came with a step, might be the sh!t. I got a rooster in my rrari, might be your b!tch. Where do we start? I mean I LOVE Jeezy but the first line makes no sense. What step does thinking come with? I can see why school may have been challenging. All those steps to think and ish. The second line, though, gave me pause. Roosters are MALE chickens. So that aint nobodys bish! Thats somebodys BROTHER. If you riding around with a rooster thinking its a chicken, that metaphorically means you riding round with a dude you thought was a CHICK! *clutches pearls* All Im saying to the rappers is while I know that most of your following is about as deep as a toilet, there are still some of us out there intelligent enough to sift through the BS. Please manage the funk.... #thatisall
