This is a long shot, but I am asking for some help. I am looking for someone (probably retirement aged) with a significant self directed (or convertible) IRA who is willing to work with me to buy the property next door. Basically, the person I am looking for would play the role of the bank (no property management or ownership for them). They would loan me money to buy the house, which I would then rent out. Advantages to them: fixed return for 30 years, physical property underlying the loan, and the intangible benefit of understanding what you are investing in and knowing that it is making the world better. Disadvantages: money is locked up for 30 years (with constant payments), non-diversified (but understood) risk, and having to meet with lawyers to set things up. The owner is willing to sell. Three more units would make the Normal House 12 people, with a huge courtyard. I want to make this happen, so any leads would be awesome.
