This is a market in Hayatabad: I am sharing pictures of Bangash Market Phase-6 Hayatabad Peshawar. I hope you can see two blocks of the market. All the shops have a front verandah(about 8 feet wide) and an open pavement/car parking of about 40 feet width. The story that I am telling you is common in every market and bazar of this country. The shop keepers have fully occupied front verandah and have piled up their saleable goods there. Outside verandah, the open space is seized by vendors( mobile accessories sellers, easyloaders, pakhora/samosa, kabab stalls, vegetable/fruit carts, chiken butchers etc). Customers especially women have no chance to walk through this congestion. Right now, I am not going to discuss filth scattered every where and un hygenic things sold here. I wonder, we express and exchange views on TV talk shows, social media, columns and sermons in mosques, BUT no one bothers to discuss this phenomenon which is directly related to common citizens. Is occupation of verandah by shop keepers is not immoral and against Islamic injunctions? Under which licence/justification, vendors have thronged to the market? Is it not a serious sin to block way of pedestrians or vehicular traffic? Ironically, the shop keepers and vendors committing these crimes claim to be practising Muslims, offer 5 times prayers and accasionally accompany Tableeghi Jumaat. I leave rest of commentery to you.
