This is a matter of public safety and also a matter of public concern. As I drive around our city, I notice these public information signs that the City has placed at major intersections and also on main streets throughout our city. The signs point to city attractions, hospitals, parks, shopping areas etc. While I feel these signs are informative for the citizens of Kokomo and Howard County and/or anyone visiting our city, it appears to me one very important informational sign has been inadvertently missed. I have yet to see one of these signs indicating the locations of Fire Stations within the City of Kokomo. I just feel it is very important for everyone to know where these stations are located since the City administration has declared all Fire Stations in the City of Kokomo storm shelters for our citizens. Another reason I feel it is so important for citizens to know locations of our stations is we have medical walk-ins, if nothing else maybe someone just needing directions. Also, most importantly, Fire Stations are Nationally recognized as a safe drop off area for unwanted children. Therefore, the Professional Firefighter of Kokomo Local 396 would like to post on our Facebook the address of all Kokomo Fire Station locations. I hope this is helpful.
