This is a must see play by Suzanne Rouse-Rudnytsky. Please take a moment to read a short biography of this amazing woman below. SUZANNE ROUSE-RUDNYTSKY Born in 1951 and raised in upstate New York on a dairy farm, Suzanne began performing country music with her dad at typical Norman Rockwell settings. Before long, her interests expanded to musical theater and she decided to train her voice for the stage at the Boston Conservatory of Music where she received a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in voice performance. Ultimately, this lead to opera and she relished singing the rolls of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Britten’s Little Sweep. However, she managed to slip in the role of Nettie Fowler from Rogers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. At Quisisana, a summer resort on Lake Kezar in Maine, she sang excerpts from many of the major opera composers: Puccini, Rossini, Mozart, Menotti and more. Upon marriage to Roman Rudnytsky, a Juilliard grad and international, concert pianist, they moved to Youngstown, Ohio where they lived and raised their two children, Oksana and Damian over the next 40 years. Grand children followed. While in Youngstown, she completed a Master of Music degree in voice performance at Youngstown State University and continued to perform classical recital repertoire which included Lieder of the 19th century and specifically Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben. Over the years, Suzanne sang recitals which included classical composers drawn from a 400 year wellspring of music: Barber, Ives, Rachmaninoff, Villa Lobos, Purcell and the Italians. Sacred music dominated her tenure in Youngstown where she sang soprano solos in Bach cantatas, the Requiems, Rudder and many of the Renaissance and Baroque composers as well as those of 19th and 20th centuries. Back in 1982, Suzanne spontaneously composed her first song, “Let’s Just Say Good Night” while sitting in a rocking chair in her sister-in-law’s kitchen up on the farm. From that simple start, over a 30 year period, she went on to compose all the songs included in her musical narrative: Sarah’s Song. Sarah’s Song is Suzanne’s autobiography reflecting her life and her marriage to Roman. It is a series of monologues which are each reflected in the songs that Suzanne prophetically wrote before the script appeared. The songs are virtually intact as they were originally written. Look, life is not easy, even for those of us with advantages from the start. It’s what we do with what we have and where we let the road take us that makes us who we are. And when the road develops pot holes….? Fill them in as best you can and keep moving forward. This is Sarah’s Song.trans-alleghenylunaticasylum/main/events/Sarahs_song/index.html
