This is a part of the performance yesterday that Nicolai took part off. His celebration of his lentefeest. Lentefeest stands for the transition of infant to learning child. The moment when you start to make up your own mind and start seeing the world in your own way. Many of those moments are wonderful as they can get lost in fairytales, books, magazines of their favourite characters etc... But Its also the start where they are confronted with the hard reality of this world as they now start to understand newspapers, TV and conversations around them. This moment was a tribute to war child. Enormously confronting and double for us parents. Seeing these images played out before your child, something you still want to protect them from. He is so young, is this not to much? But its the hard reality of this world and this video is truly a statement to the differences that children face depending in where they are born. Here our son stands (the only one with red pants) all proud and dressed up, ready for his start into the big people world. A day we spend surrounded by family, laughs, gifts and abundance of good food. While children his same age appear on screen behind them who never had the chance to be a child, to play freely, to have a warm home and continuous 6 meals a day. I found this moment both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. But even tho my feelings where torn, Im very proud of my son.
