This is a pic of a school of speckles up a creek on the lower bay the first week of February. This happened in 3 or 4 different places last winter. A small percentage of them were dying every day. The conservationist got together with help of some highly intelligent pencil pushers and had the season shut down to save the speckle trout fishery. Hundeds of miles of shoreline that these fish travel and they shut it down becauze of of a tiny percentage of dead fish. After enduring a terrible rockfish season, mainly because the numerous 3 to 5 mile long schools didnt come inside the 3 mile line ( because of the lack of bait, samething happening in the bay) , I was depending on the spring speckles to catch up. You can t wipe out a species with a rod and reel. The fish are gonna follow food nust like every other living thing. Want better fishing try to control what they eat and all that polution coming out of Baltimore. 1 fish limit is showing the utmost of ignorance possible ! It wouldnt surprise me at the least if you didnt post this. Not politically correct. By the way , all over the internet. Record numbers of speckles being caught all over the lower bay .
