This is a piece I did last year before the season started with the great Wesley Walker in my Jets group called NY JETS! ALL DAY EVERYDAY! I thought Id post it again for those fans that missed it. Enjoy! Past NY Jets player (legend) and group member Wesley Walker, we are honored to feature you this whole weekend. Thank you so much for sharing with us! Enjoy members! Feel free to comment with your thoughts and favorite memories of Wesley Walker! I have also posted a video in the comments, so make sure to check that out as well! GO JETS! ALL DAY EVERYDAY! IN HIS WORDS: I look forward to every season. I am a true Jet myself and no matter what, win or lose, I support the Jets always. I love the fans. I can only hope and pray that the Jets will get to the Super Bowl. Thats the only way I will go as a spectator. I love Woody Johnson and Rex Ryan. They always keep a positive attitude. I have always been proud to be a Jet and so honored to be elected into the Jets Ring of Honor. I will be supporting the Jets every year and hope that Gang Green has a successful & healthy season. The Jets will be good this year if they keep playing good defense and players stay healthy. Hopefully the Jets will take advantage of their opportunities this season. Cant wait for the season to start! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!! -Wesley Walker (NY JETS! ALL DAY EVERYDAY!) LETS GET TO KNOW WESLEY WALKER & HIS TIME WITH THE JETS! Wesley Walker was born May 26, 1955 in San Bernardino, California. Walker is a former professional wide receiver for the New York Jets from 1977-1989. One of the best in history to be exact! Walker was an All-American at the University of California. Some of you may not know this, but Walker was legally blind in one eye. Back in the day they didnt do physical exams and the Combine like they do now. The NFL wasnt even aware Walker was blind in one eye at first! Walker overcame this handicap to become one of the Jets all-time great receivers. He was noted for his great speed, averaging over 20 yards per reception over many seasons (his career average was 19 yards per reception). At the time of his retirement, he was second in Jets all-time receiving yardage. He led the league in receiving yards in 1978, was elected to the Pro Bowl twice 1978 and 1982, and was named the New York Jets MVP in 1978. Walker was one of the dominant players in the 1982 NFL Playoffs: in two postseason games, he caught 15 passes for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns, as the Jets beat the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Raiders, both on the road. His best receiving season came in 1983, when he caught 61 receptions; and in 1986 he had a career-best 12 receiving touchdowns. 4 of them were scored in week three, as he caught a game-winning touchdown from the Jets quarterback Ken OBrien in overtime to give the Jets a wild shootout win 51-45 over the Miami Dolphins. Im sure many fans remember this game! The New York Jets inducted the great wide receiver Wesley Walker into the teams Ring of Honor at halftime of their Monday night game against the Houston Texans in October of 2012. Walker and Gastineau were honored on the field as the third class of inductees, joining former Jets stars including Joe Namath, Curtis Martin, Joe Klecko and Don Maynard. Walker played his entire career with the Jets, catching 438 passes for 8,306 yards and 71 touchdowns from 1978-89. Walker is now a physical education teacher at Park View Elementary School in Kings Park, New York, and an occasional sports radio show commentator.
