This is a platter from a 20 year old RPM 1 that came into the shop for factory cleaning and inspection. Before re-assembling the table we decided to do a little test. We spun the platter and when it slowed to 33.33 rpm we started the timer and let it run until it stopped. It did very well for a 20 year old part! The RPMs were designed to have a slight amount of drag to stabilize rotation under power. The SG platters incorporate a heavy ring for stability. Because of the ring and more advanced bearing they spin much longer.
