This is a poem I wrote about catching HIV on Prom Night. That one night when the excitement outweighs the caution of a generation. Warning, its sad! Ode to that magical night When my life took flight Youth and ignorance in my favor We carried passion like a razor The magical scent of lust and roses lingered in the air Twas almost more than my teenage body could bare Almost eighteen a man I soon shall be The world shall take what it will of me No hope of protection to be found We take root on the ground In this lonely isolated field To our passions we yield Moments of young lust Create a false trust A loving and mastering illusion Created solely in confusion A man she created of me Yet a man I must not be We never gazed upon each other again So we drifted to a lie from our sin Now my soul mate arrives So my heart may thrive Public loneliness no more For it is they I adore Dependable I shall be completely without regret For a family with child I shall now bet My loving spouse to be whispers without fear The young and lustful desires in my ear From my head to my toes and every pulse between we must know our full love My pride swells, yet I must not disturb, for one remains pure as a Dove No longer the before noted naive child Ideas shall never tempt me wild For us a promise of love and honor is owed Allowing Gods blessing to be bestowed A white Dove wedding we surely need And mouths, I hope, soon I shall feed Blessed a family we deeply desire So we may always avoid the fire To the man of bones my Dove carries me For a healthy apple I expect to be Prepared to labor and stay My heart shall never stray A nest soon to be built With love and no guilt Before our family may prosper within our bliss In the garden we must be bound with a kiss Say for the dangers of young lust My future would be just From Bones; Purgatories storm was born Eternally erasing a world I had sworn An enemy that shall never surrender Flows within my Red River I witness for everyone here With a solitary red tear Evolving from a lonely boy to a man Might beg the highest price it can My heart shall forever drown in pain For life allows me nothing to gain To lose a child before they grow Is a pain I pray you never know The memories I once hoped to create Are forever stolen without my mate Let us not forget the white Dove who must fly away To save their self for another some other day
