This is a post I did in a debate group, and the response I got. These are the kind of people we are dealing with, and it is sad and scary at the same time. The question has been asked many times to Christians. How will you feel in heaven knowing your loved ones are in hell. The response given by many is that you will have no memory of them and so it will not affect you. Well what is it that makes you, you? Think about it hard. Try to think about you (your self being as you know it) without also including those that had an influence in your life. What makes us who we are is our experiences. We are who we are because of our past. If our past is taken away, If our memories are wiped, we are no longer our self. You would in essence be a whole new being, so when saying you are going to heaven, that is not true. You will no longer exist. This would not be much different than reincarnation. This also brings into the question of your purpose here on earth. There is no love like the love for ones children. How could anyone even strive for a time when they would have no memory of their children or wife of 30yrs or parents and siblings. Also without the memories, you would have no way of knowing you even existed before heaven, so why even bother with putting people on earth when they could just be created in heaven to begin with?
