This is a question that I would like to ask all my friends who serve in the government. One Mr. Ashoke Roy, who describes himself as working in the government as (in his own words) a pen-pushing bureaucrat, makes a post of a picture, in which he abuses the AAP. There is a picture of Arvind Kejriwal and above that the blurb says, Save Mother Land of Hindus is Hindustan. Below the picture, he calls the AAP an Allahu akbar party and an Anti-Hindu party. Mr. Roy, in a large number of his posts, overtly criticises Islam. Suffice to say that a large number of his posts are calculated to show Islam in a bad light. In the past, on one occasion, I pointed out that the post that he had put up, criticising a cleric of Egypt for having said something vile, was actually a completely false one, which had originated from a Zionist site. I also pointed out that the Egyptian cleric in question was actually a liberal individual who had invited the ire of many hardliners for his liberal views. Is Mr. Roy breaking the conduct rules that apply to all government servants? My own take is that all government officers take an oath to safeguard and abide by the Constitution. There are also Conduct Rules that cover the manner in which an officer in the government must conduct himself. These Conduct Rules do not permit any officer to air any comments that are evidently against any religion, on social media. I asked Mr. Ashok Roy whether, in the light of his anti-muslim leanings, whether the has ever thought of how a Muslim would feel, if he or she were to meet him in connection with an official matter. I see a lot of government officers posting on social media. Except for Mr. Roy and another officer, from the Foreign Service, no less, I have not come across anybody who openly abuses Arvind Kejriwal. Do the conduct rules of the government permit a government officer to criticise and abuse a political party? Or did they amend the conduct rules to exempt BJP supporters and Muslim haters in the government, from their application?
