This is a re-post of the message which had been posted by me before. I believe it is needful to do so now. May the Lord minister to your heart through this brief message. GoodNews Bible Ministries Inc. WEEKEND MENU: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. [Isaiah 5:20-21,23-24 KJV] DO YOU JUDGE? Man, created in the image of God, sits on judgment everyday of his life. He judges between his children, he judges between husband and wife. He sits in judgment between the thief and the owner of the stolen item, he judges between farmers concerning farmland borders, man sits in judgment between friends who have suddenly found reason to disagree, and sometimes he sits in judgment as a magistrate in a local or urban court to determine sundry complicated cases that come in everyday. As a father, you handle many judgments, so also as a king, a pastor, a policeman or even as a public servant. In everything we do we find reason to judge and take action based on this judgment. So, we all take decisions for others. In all of these, it is necessary to come out with a just decision, and to implement it for the benefit of society. This is the crux of the matter. How do you consider and arrive at a decision (judgment) in the cases that you handle everyday? Do you judge fairly, sincerely and honestly between litigants, or do you judge with partiality to give favour to a preferred party for reasons of material inducement? Are you wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own sight to the extent that you call evil good, and consider good as evil? In your judgments or daily official assignments, do you justify the WICKED for a reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him? Or do you consider evil as bad, and righteousness as good? Take a look around you and give an answer to this question. In our clime and country today, we read and see in the print and electronic media how justice is openly distorted to favour the rich and powerful and the most connected to the chagrin and disdain of the poor and downtrodden. We have heard testimonies of situations where the guilty party, having paid the necessary inducement, was asked to use his counsel (lawyer) to draft the judgment against the other party who was rightly entitled to the judgment. We have heard of judgments already written even before the court hears the full case because of adequate inducement and a superior order from above to give a favorable judgment to the guilty party. We see glaring injustice in the way the Police handle cases at their stations, and how some in our communities have become people above the law. Many are therefore celebrating distorted judgments around us and publishing some in Newspapers and other media to show the world that they have been exonerated from cases which ordinarily should indict them. Many of us thrive in justifying the wicked for a reward, and openly boasting about it. It is no longer shameful to give biased judgments to the rich and wicked, it is not new to openly display wealth acquired from evil judgments. The Apostle Paul told the Romans that people who do these things know the judgment of God, and that they which commit such things are worthy of death; because they do not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Which also explains why people who do these things are hailed and admired and worshipped by those who should condemn them. If you are involved in this or similar acts, the judgment pronounced for you is this: as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so your root shall be as rottenness, and your blossom shall go up as dust: because you have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. May that not be your portion in Jesus name! CONCLUSION: A CALL TO REPENTANCE Are you involved in any of these evils? Are you planning to partake in similar evils so that ends can meet? Or do you mourn similar acts that you have carried out in the past against your brother or sister? Do you still call evil as good, and good as evil? Gods message to you is: woe unto you! There is a great judgment ahead of you, not only in death but even in life. Remember that it is appointed unto man to die once, after that he faces judgment, and you know that it is a fearful thing (for man) to fall into the hands of the living God. But there is hope: I have a message for you. Come to the Lord Jesus Christ today and now in sincere repentance and in truth; confess your past evil deeds to Him, resolve (make up your mind) never to return to your past ways, and bring forth fruit worthy of repentance in obedience to his commands. He is a faithful and just God who takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? May this message minister unto your deeper being and move you unto repentance for the salvation of your soul. PRAYER: LORD, thank you for this timely and soul-saving message. Help me to think of the implications of my evil ways and desires, and to turn my heart from evil to righteous judgements. Forgive my past mistakes, let Your light illuminate my deeper recesses so that I do not find pleasure in evil judgments anymore. Help me, O Lord, to turn around full course and be your blessed son and faithful servant from this day. In Jesus name, Amen.
