This is a recording of Art Tatum playing Tenderly in a live performance. Tatum was a master of the keyboard and is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz piano virtuosos of all time. He had a style of playing that was highly embellished, and no one else had the skill to copy it even if they had wanted to. Tatum was a highly original piano master, one of a kind. There is quite a vast library of recordings of his live and studio performances, recording him playing both solo and with small groups. He was active mostly from about 1930 to 1955.
