This is a reminder that there are lots of good people in the world. I know it seems all we hear is the bad. But this is a story about a plethora of great people that stepped up when needed. Two weeks ago, Tish Humbyrd MacDonald opened her car door on Elm in Broken Arrow, as this beautiful labbie was dodging traffic. She called me, borrowed my kennel and let me evaluate him. He was so calm, smart, trained and not a mark on him-except he had no collar, no chip and was intact. A little thin, but truly beautiful. I wanted to keep him, as he really has the temperament of a great therapy dog, but with Turbo, I just cannot take on another energetic dog. So, another employee at BAPS stepped in to foster him until the 5 day wait was over, giving the owner time to locate him. Signs were put up, posts were shared, but, nothing. Now Lab Rescue OK, Inc., Vicki Dickerson and Nickii L Allen stepped in and he was fully vetted and of course-neutered. Then the Cooks, from Lab Rescue took him in, as their official foster. Meanwhile, my dear friends, Tom and Debbie Luce contacted me about getting another lab. They picked out a few online and filled out the adoption application online. They came to Pets Mart Sat. and the Cooks brought Emmett. This sweet dog did not bark, was sitting so polite and it was love at first sight! Emmett is now named Buddy and will sit, stay, lay, shakes and lays his head on your lap. How could anyone let this gem go and not search for him! Ill never understand some people. PETS ARE NOT DISPOSABLE!!!! He is now chipped and has a permanent loving home. He was only in a Lab Rescue home for a couple of days. This is exactly why people like me, Tish, the Cooks and the wonderful volunteers at Lab Rescue, do what we do. Sharing on FB does work! With the holidays and hunting season upon us, please consider fostering! The more fosters we have, even for a short time, the more labs we can save! Thank you everyone!!!! Buddy is giving paws up!
