This is a repost of the slightly modified recipe for Frosty Paws dog treats that was originally shared by Jenny Poti. Frosty Paws! • 2 (6 oz) vanilla or plain yogurt • 1 tablespoon honey • 1 mashed banana • ¼ cup peanut butter 1. Mash one large banana. 2. Combine all ingredients including the banana. Mix well. 3. Divide mix evenly into 8 dixie cups. Fill ¾ full. 4. Insert popsicle stick or the blunt end of a plastic knife into your “pops” and freeze. Once frozen, wiggle the pop to remove it from cup. Your dog can take over from here! Brady, our official taste tester, was kind enough to volunteer to sample these delicious treats. The original recipe called for a bit more peanut butter. But knowing shelties and how they like to eat, I reduced the amount of this high calorie ingredient and included a greater proportion of banana and yogurt. I also gave Brady only ½ of a pop per day. Brady has to keep a trim figure for his modeling and Mutt Strutting. Since you can freeze these, they don’t have to be eaten at once. Following the recipe with my modifications, I was able to fill 8 dixie cups ¾ full. I used the blunt end of plastic knives, not dog bones for the “sticks.” This is not something, I would make/give daily. But it is a nice treat for special occasions. Brady enjoyed one today since he was a saint for a bath and a trim. He is hilarious licking on these. He knows he has to “sit” to get his goodie, but will get so excited and wag his tail so much, that he ends up scooting across the floor in anticipation. Today though, he figured out that if you do things JUST right you can grab the WHOLE treat OFF the stick. This means that what once took several minutes to eat was down the hatch in one gulf. This dog’s mouth is like a vacuum, once it opens, he sucks the food up like a hoover!
