This is a short Sunday morning love story about two old fools: Early this morning Lucky and I woke up and found our much-loved Vizsla puppy, Maizie, very sick in her crate. We took her to the emergency vet center. Her nine-week-old racing heart -- the most beautiful heart in the world -- was damaged. A few minutes ago, Maizie died. We only had her 10 days but they were among the happiest 10 days of our entire lives. In those days, she enjoyed many treats. She had the best toys. She learned to come when she heard her name. She romped in the back yard with the neighbor boys next door and special dog guests. She met all five of our children. Her crystal blue eyes took in the world. Lucky and I were over the moon in love with Maizie. She came into our lives like a dream and showed us how much good there is in the world. We are devastasted but very grateful for those 10 days and the song of love that Maizie taught us.
