This is a song—really? Okay, I got bored one day and decided to record this. The actual percussive riff that goes through-out the song is something I always “sang” to my cats. I repeat the word “Kitty” several times and end it with a “bump, bump.” (Okay, so I’m a bit cat crazy.) When I finally decided to record it in my home studio as a lark, I decided to add various sounds using only my mouth. The “sneeze” was a real one before I actually started the project and thought it would be funny to keep. I used absolutely no effects of any kind. What the microphone captured is what you heard. No reverb, echo, delay, flange, or anything. The ONLY effect I did use was the “repeat” tool to lengthen the song about 45 seconds. I didn’t even try to time align the “noises” and just let it fall where it may. Everything else was recorded and mixed dry, which was what I had in mind. At the very beginning, you can hear our “baby” Doberman, Midori, barking. I captured our late baby girl, Mimi, barking in a song a few years back and kept it. I’m always glad to incorporate these kinds of sounds. It’s more a scrap-booking memory for me than anything else. And no, I haven’t lost my mind when it comes to writing songs. I just like making goofy ones every so often. This entire process, from actually writing it, recording it, editing and mixing it, took less than 20 minutes. This is song #523. MEOW WOOF AVANT-GARDE PERFORMANCE (MEOW-REPEAT/WOOF-REPEAT). Written and recorded by Wayde K. Brown & The Santairs Copyright 2013—All Rights Reserved Recorded at MINE music Studio in Auburn, WA.
