This is a super-honest (albeit a little blunt) article about how to (and how not to) get your photographer friends to take photographs for you. TO MY PERSONAL FRIENDS: If I have ever offered you a free shoot (or special deals) in the past, I was (and still am) TRULY HAPPY to have done so...I made that offer from my heart and this article does not apply to you (just so were clear)! :) I always try to offer a few unpaid shoots throughout the year, because I think its important to volunteer your time and energy for others when you can. But, I have also come to the conclusion over the last two years, that I am trying to run a business; I can no longer afford to be burdened with the guilt of not photographing every single event I attend because the time I spend editing my images is time I cant spend with my own family...and that time is priceless to me!
