This is a terribly sad story about a 37 year old woman, with a PhD, engaged to a medical dr, who died of cancer after being misdiagnosed by 3 drs, all of whom told her it was psychological. Im sharing this because, I, too, was misdiagnosed by several drs, one of whom told me I had to have my colon removed with the only explanation given that it was the only thing that would help me. It would have not only NOT helped me, it would have harmed me, as my symptoms ended up being caused by chronic pancreatitis from a birth defect called pancreas divisum. I, too, was told it was all psychological & was effectively patted on the head by several drs. And what do you think happens with family & friends when drs tell you this? If you guessed that they begin to doubt you, you would be right. My point in sharing this is that we know when something is wrong. We must be our own advocate & do the research to find the best dr for the symptoms & not be brushed off to anxiety & depression! I am so saddened by this poor womans story. My own journey was very difficult, but thankfully didnt result in a devastating outcome like this!
