This is a tweet from the Staffing Manager at Edmonton Catholic. Is it OK for a fully publicly funded, government run organization to discriminate against non-Catholic teachers in hiring? Is Catholic Math, Catholic Physics or Catholic Geography somehow different from regular Math, Physics & Geography? Should one religious faith have a 25% better chance of being hired on the public dime? (Did you know, young Alberta teachers actually fake being Catholic to increase their chances of being hired. They attend churches for months and sometimes years and / or get baptized just to get the letter they need from the Priest.) In 2014 this is completely unacceptable & needs to stop. With the specific exception of a very small number of roles, teacher & staff hiring into Separate schools should be completely without religious bias or discrimination.
