This is a very interesting article on toilets and urban spaces. As interesting as it is, however, I am not without reservations about the argument. What the author is suggesting to us is a kind of return to feudal social arrangements. Dry toilets may be the ecologically sensible option, but if inserted into a social environment of the kind that India has it will push communities that have only recently been liberated from untouchability back into the cess pool that they emerged from. Nevertheless, a useful read.
