This is a video containing a deleted scene from Superman II, showing Lex Luthors arrest by Arctic Patrol outside Supermans Fortress. But its not only the arrest of Lex. This scene also proves that Superman DID NOT kill Zod. So many have argued, in defence of Man of Steel, that it wasnt the first time Superman is shown killing Zod, and that he had done so in SM2. But apparently not. And this scene prove it. At 00.13, it shows Zod, Non and Ursa being led away by the Arctic Patrol and bundled into Jeeps, along with Lex. You can just about make it out, and it was a distance shot. Most Superman fans have not been entirely convinced of this scenes existence, but it has been mentioned. I think it was a matter of bad editing which made it seem Superman had killed Zod maliciously, and even I had begun to think so myself. But then I took a closer look at this scene (its from the special features from the Richard Donner cut of SM2). It makes sense. Zod and his cohorts wouldnt have died straight away, and lets face it the Fortress is equipped so that humans cant freeze to death. Even depowered, the three villains would have lay at the bottom of the Fortress unharmed until Arctic Patrol helped them out. Even with this scene cut out, Superman had turned the world back and during that, Zod and co had been placed back into the Phantom Zone. But yeah, there you have it. :) I must say now, Im not one of those critics who blasted MoSs ending with Supes killing Zod. I felt it was a necessary death. I mean, what was he supposed to do? Let Zod kill that family? It was a tough choice to make, and one Superman will have to live with for a long time...and one I hope he will learn from in future.
