This is a video of an interview with an aphasia patient. Vins stroke was only a little over a week ago, but I think that this is the toughest battle she will be facing during her recovery. Having a conversation with her isnt quite as bad as this poor fellow demonstrates, but there are more similarities than not. The damage to her brain seems to be in the Brocas Area, which not only affects speech, but also some motor functions as well. She is able to walk on her own, but only with someone nearby as she does sometimes tend to fall to her left. Vins tentative release date from St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute is the 31st of this month after which she will need 24/7 care at least for a while- if not permanently. Between Resa, myself and close friends, we should be able to cover that. Debbie and Chris are also around to help out when needed. I have always left the household finances up to Vin. I go out and earn the money, and she does the paperwork. Looks like I have some learning do do myself, too. She has been able to answer any questions I have had so far, so I think Ive got that covered as well. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes and general all-around positive energy. If there is one thing that has remained intact in my wifes head, its love. As long as we dont lose hope, then we can conquer anything! https://youtube/watch?v=aVhYN7NTIKU
