This is about getting to Mars and just as important COMING BACK. As a professional graphic artist there has been no better job security in creating art work depicting the many ideas and vehicles and panoramic vistas of Mars bases that will never exist. Just when will Humans get to Mars is a question many astronomers and geologists want to know. The Earths public thirst for knowledge knows no bounds and the imagination of artists is just as vast. Every time some government or scientific panel looks into the idea of sending human explores to Mars the images are near religious in glory as the era of the Renaissance. I am not unmoved by much of this kind of work as its designed to appeal to the public and many in politics that controls the money for most space agencies on Earth. As an artist this kind of spectacular visions of future science pay my rent and car payments as well. I can do this kind of work till I cannot hold a brush or a virtual pen in photoshop. But how many more decades will we be looking at painted humans walking on Mars? How many more digital paintings of Space Ships will be created before a human really builds one that can send humans to Mars and bring them back? No one knows and it might come to a shock those reading this that it might never happen. Thats correct, it might never happen because of politics and money. The other reason is that robots are doing a very good job now and more will follow. More nations that could not launch a satellite 20 years ago are reaching other planets with unmanned probes. NASA has led the way more than 40 years ago with the first SUCCESSFUL Mars landing of Viking 1 and 2 in 1976. Then for nearly 22 years no successful mission landed on the Red Planet. So let us take a look at the images of hope that have filled us with imagination of some day standing on another planet. All brought to you by people like me that draw for a living and have never even set foot in a space ship.
