This is absolutely nothing new under the sun I grew up under. My abuela would tell stories of how familia would burn candles when someone of darker hues within the family would be having a baby. The candles would be lit to ask the Virgin Mary for a fair skinned child. A child with not too many risos (curls - translate that into naps) and oh!! Lets not forget the pressing of the flat nose into a more trim lined European nose. (It was thought that since the newborns skin and body is still moldable ... well lets massage that flat Black nose into one with a bridge - huh? yeah thats what I said). We are all one. There is a Puerto Rican that wont accept the Dominican that wont accept the Salvadorian, that wont accept the Mexican. Different strokes for different folks. Then there is a Jamaican that wont accept the Barbasian that wont accept the Haitian .... Stop the shit! WE GOT TO LIVE TOGETHER!!
