This is also a Colony story as well. From when a first started to go to McKinley Grade school for half day Kindergarten, in the Autumn of 1955, I basically walked the same route from algonquin Parkway to Central & Upton. At the big corner of Central & Monroe Streets was a school pedestrian crosswalk light. It was bascially by the Pizzeria on Monroe. And, from 1955 to when I graduated in 1963, there was one, the same Police Officer, Chester, there. And, I remember him as a chubby gray haired friendly Policeman. I was going to say that he was pretty tall. But, as I was only a child, how can I now gage this. He did such 4 times every day for at least 9 years or many more. And, he always had a smile & never had a rude or angry moment. I am not sure, but he might have ven been a Sargent. He was always there in full dress, Spring or WInter, rain or snow. And, many a time, at the side of my eyesight I would take a brief look at his holster and revolver. Wow, it looked pretty big to me! So, I now as if greatfully tip my hat to him. And to his: Duty, Service & Kindness.
