This is an animal rescue groups nightmare. The name of the wonderful group is Dog Star Rescue. Heres the story: Kratos was adopted last Saturday. On Monday he broke out of his crate while his new owners were at work, destroyed the deadbolt, ran out the front door and was hit by a car. After this happened, the new owners decided that they were no longer interested in keeping him - so he was out, on his own with no family. Dog Star Rescue and Dog Gone Recovery did the right thing. Kratos was on his way to surgery earlier this afternoon. We have found that his expected surgery could cost a few thousand dollars. The surgeon is donating all of the anesthesia and is reducing his fees by 50%, which we are so thankful for. Generally this surgery would run $4500 - $5200. Our cost will not be that high, however, it is still an unexpected expense that we could really use some help with.
