This is an animal story. I had a phone appointment this morning to work with a two year old black cat who was living indoors but essentially behaving like a feral. Her mom was contemplating finding her a barn to live in, because at home she wouldt let anyone touch her, and she would hiss whenever anyone came near. This sweet girl was so stressed, and in so much emotional pain, that I spent about 8 minutes helping her release as much of it as I could. I was given some wonderful words and suggestions for her, which I passed on to her mom, and I told her to be on the lookout for even the slightest of changes in the coming days. Im never absolutely certain what will change and when, but I usually feel confident of a positive outcome. Well, a mere hour later, I received a PM on FB with a photo and the caption, I thought youd want to see this. The tortured cat that Id met an hour ago had climbed onto the bed with her mom, and hung out there with two other rescue cats and one of the family dogs. And when a second dog jumped on the bed and landed right next to her, my friend the black cat didnt move a muscle. I have to say that I have never experienced anything like this in 13 years of doing this work. Its the power of love, folks. Thats what it is. :)
