This is an email sent to me from a man I met last night at a local McDs who was watching me crochet plastic bags into reusable bags to sell. To my surprise, he is a network systems architect for Benaroya Research Institute for Virginia Mason....you see, you never know who you will cross paths with or how much one small deed will impact them.... Hi Carey- I am so glad I stopped to talk with you about your crocheting. I was surprised when I learned that you were using plastic bags. This is awesome and I can’t wait to share your process with my daughter. I didn’t completely understand the process of cutting the bags, but I think the idea is to create a continuous strand by cutting the open end (the side with straps) and then the bottom portion of the bag. This creates ‘the tube’. Then you fold the tube and cut into strips. The part you lost me on was where you cut the folded bag tube at an angle. Oh well, my daughter is much better at this and she’ll probably figure out a good method and hopefully will teach me. Thank you for your business card. When I went to my room, I checked out some of your youtube videos and was impressed and overwhelmed. Besides the amazing work that you are doing for the community you have a natural gift for speaking and teaching. It is encouraging and inspiring to have met you.
