This is an excellent article, that I think applies to many of the things we use for entertainment. Books, movies, tv, and even music should be filtered through our faith based worldview, and not glossed over. I highly recommend it to all of my Christian friends. Via Mark Bainter: Christ died to purify his people. It is an absolute travesty of the cross to treat it as though Jesus died only to forgive us for the sin of watching nudity, and not to purify us for the power not to watch it. Bingo. This goes to the heart of the cheap grace problem. All of us are always tempted to think that whatever particular sin we harbor is the one God will wink at and just understand. But every single one was forgiven at the greatest possible expense. The power of sin is broken in the cross, and we are free to choose righteousness, but not always willing. In the church today we are all too quick to sweep responsibility for that under the rug of grace, which just enables the problem. And frankly, it doesnt start with the decision to watch that show. It starts with the decision to even have that in our home. Its not broadcast over the airwaves. We *pay* to have that delivered to us, and make it readily available in our living rooms for us, just waiting to be consumed.
