This is an extremely hard post to type. As you know, we have had critical care nurses here, and still do. Shawna was here all day as well. Through their observations, they see progression of the cancer. It appears his kidneys and liver are not functioning due to the blockage (tumor). He is still in a considerable amount of pain. They told us tonight that probably within 24 hours he may become unresponsive. So...to those of you who would like to come see him, tomorrow would be the day for short 15 to 20 minute visits. After that, if things are progressing as the nurses predict, we will probably cut off visits. Randy had several visitors tonight, and SURPRISINGLY he perked right up. I dont know what tomorrow or the next day will bring. A part of me is still holding out hope that this is all being brought on by a change in his meds and that he will wake up tomorrow and be him again. NONE of us can truly predict what and when this is all going to happen. What matters most is that we get his pain under control, it has been brutal for several days now. He is resting somewhat comfortably at the moment and he is surrounded by his children, his brother and extended family. All of your continued love and support has been so helpful, in more ways than you can imagine. The smile that comes to his face when I read him your messages is priceless.
