This is an extremely interesting opinion piece that at least in mind, is a long overdue prelude to questions of responsibility for childbearing/rearing costs outside of formal partnerships. What I would most like to see is a reliable systemic birth control for men – at least that way the benefits and the consequences for responsibility/irresponsibility would be shared. This line quoted in the article sums up the issue: “...if women’s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a fetus, then men’s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a resulting child.”
