This is an incredibly moving story about criminal profiling. This is one of the most well written testimonies / personal narratives about institutionalized racism that I have ever read. Everybody should read this, especially people of color. The author discusses how we need to give mercy to ourselves for having been changed by what society tells us. Everyday the news shows people of color as criminals. This is not criminal profiling, this is racism. As future teachers, reformers, and leaders we need to realize that this authors story is one of many. We must fight to make sure that our children, our students, and the next generation do not share these same stories and fears.
