This is an interesting piece to read, because it questions and create thought around what brought along the massacres justified or unjustified in Paris. As far a I am concerned it neither condemns or approve the harsh punishments, the authors of the poison pens received. Whenever the pen which is mightier than the sword incite hatred, hate speech amongst followers of different religions, in the name of freedom of speech then one has to question ones free thinking and actions. Whereas the sword inflict a bleeding wound, as appose to the pen which wounds the soul, the recovery from both at times is not possible. The Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were not mere gadflies, not simple martyrs to the right to offend: they were ideologues. Just because one condemns their brutal murders doesn’t mean one must condone their ideology. Writes the New Yorker My personal opinion, is that the so called extremist won this round, not only for Islam but for all religions Charlie Hebdo and his poison pen cartoonist insulted, belittled and blasphemed over the years.
