This is an old picture that I saw being reposted on another fb page dedicated to unity. I dream that one day soon, stories of Chinese helping Malay, Malay helping Indians, Indians helping Chinese and so on would be so common that its not worth sharing anymore. But in these times where irresponsible and small minded people are allowed to spew racist remarks with absolute freedom, and with the rise of all sorts of dubious race-based NGOs adding more to the inter-racial disharmony, we still need stories like this to remind us that there are still many Malaysians who are good-natured and want to get along. Malaysians with authentic smiles who greet one another as a friend, a brother, a sister, an uncle or aunty, or boss, or macha and all that. None of us were born to hate. But somewhere along the way, some of us we taught that. And if we dont do anything to nip this in the bud, it will spread and there will be a tipping point where the destructive nature of hate cannot be undone. On this subject, the rise of militants in this country should not be a surprise. I dont know why we are asking questions like, how can this happen? Well, didnt we see it coming years ago? Our communities are saturated with so much hate-ideology and so much self-righteousness that is beyond reproach, its only a matter of time before things like this happens. Its the ideology. The enemy is the ideology and those who propagate it. I pray we do our little part to confront these haters with love, compassion, friendship, authentic dialogue and servanthood. The solution was always available Its up to all of us if we want to walk our talk. I assume some will comment below. Please do. But please dont speak with hate. Theres too much of it going around already. Malaysians, arise and spread the love. God only knows how much we need it. On this note, I also notice that a race helping another race is a no news in Sabah and Sarawak. Because its the norm, I assume. Teach us to love, East Malaysians. God bless everyone. Have a great day ahead.
