This is an old story but a good one. We should always have the option to protect ourselves and our loved ones. And until you are in the same situation as Sherry Shepard or something similar we can never understand the helplessness and fear that comes when your safety is in jeopardy. But by just buying a gun does not in any way take care of the problem in fact it may put you in grater jeopardy. Take classes, shoot often and in different situations, educate yourself of the laws. But most importantly and foremost talk to your family and friends and prepare your self mentally, go through the what ifs and make sure they to are prepared. It is never a decision to be taken lightly or made in haste.
