This is an older and somewhat scholarly article which I read a couple of years ago which I think is helpful fo anyone trying to understand the current destruction of the Palestinian Territory...the confusion goes to the Arab Spring, as well, and what the protesting was actually against. Neoliberalism is an economic-political ideology with which we should all be thoroughly familiar, as it governs virtually everything and confilict on earth. This is a slightly difficult read if one is not familiar with the concept of neoliberalism in its broader scope. But it is worth the time put in if you really want to understand why total destruction is taki g place ( it does not offer a facile answer about that). There are many wonderful careful works out there explaining the economic rationale behind the entire relationship between the U.S., Israel and the Palestinian people.)..the reason its important to try to understand, is because the same creative destruction dynamic at work here, have been experienced by the peoples of Latvia, Yugoslavia, Iraq, and all over the world. And one cannot understand the similarities unless one examines what leads up to these kinds of man-made catastrophes. Peace cannot be wished for with fairy-dust. It has to be sought and pursued by those who are free and strong on behalf of those who are helpless and captive. We have to inform ourselves to discuss issues and offenses, crimes and possibilities, if we are to do either. That is the only hope for democracy to rescue peoples from tyranny.
